    always seem so overwhelmed to me. They earn substandard wages, do a physically demanding job, get little or no health care and probably spend all the time they're not at work taking care of their families. And as a yesterday's Wal-Mart diary pointed out, they can be fired for not smiling.

    I wish a group like NOW would get involved in this and publicize it as a women's issue. Wal-Mart is the largest employer of women in the country--but women are also their primary customers. There should be movement to encourage female shoppers to boycott Wal-Mart until they start treating their female workers in a respectful way. Wal-Mart wants to attract more middle and upper income female shoppers, otherwise its customer base is stagnant--those are the women who are in a position to hold Wal-Mart's feet to the fire.

      keep NOW out of it, start something new.  the stigma of NOW to red state women is too strong.

      a centrist organization (that can appeal to the fundy moms) would scare the hell out of wallyworld.

        Everone who is concerned,including the members of NOW, have soemthing to offer Wal_Mart workers.

        I sometimes think you guys really believe this Red_state, Blue_state nonsense.
