  •  We do not go to Home Depot (none)
LOL as that is Lowes competition. LOL!!!
My husband needed a job badly after being laid off. He got hired by Lowes and due to the lack of jobs, has been there 5 years. He is treated fairly and the job is secure, he was in radio communications for 20 years and was treated abysmally! The benefits even at large radio stations were horrible and Lowes benefits are far better. So far, he had not had a major problem there. They even paid bereavement time for him to go to MY grandmother's funeral! They are quite flexible about personal days when my parents were both so ill and so on. We even have dental insurance for the first time which is a godsend. They are MUCH better to their employees than Walmart.

The last time we went to Home Despot was three or four years ago. My husband and I were trying to get 12' long planks of oak off the shelf and over to the cutter. When we asked an employee walking by for some assistance, he replied, rather sarcastically, "Nope. Not in my job description. You bring it [two aisles] over to the cutter and I'll cut it for you," and he just walked off ... not even bothering to offer to get someone to help us. We left our (full) cart there and started to walk out.

As we left, my husband found the manager to tell him "why he's losing $800 in business," which was what we were going to spend that day. The shocked manager made the situation right, even to the point of operating the cutter himself and making the offending employee watch and help (and the employee was in big trouble), but that was the last straw in a long line of such insults while shopping there. We switched to shopping at local hardware stores and Lowe's for the "big stuff," and we no longer feel abused for trying to spend our money. ;-)
