you wouldn't have asked what's so funny about Assange pointing out an appeal to authority.

Then you go on to continue to defend what a) there's no proof for (b) the person being accused categorically denied before moderator used appeal to authorit

Like I said, you and others are transparent at this point.

I suppose you have little choice given the circumstances but to clog up diaries with this crap.

Someone above, Dumbo, took time to look up the supposed email- its neither clear its from or two Assange and its not clear it has anything to do with Wikileaks

By the way this, "Pullitzer prize winner Barton Gellman said...He merely cited his source." is embarrassing. he cited a TIME article as proof. that's appeal to authoriy without the underlying email that confirms the veraicy of the time article.

    This isn't even complex reasoning.

Asked: There's a number of things that come up in your writings that cause people to sit back and say: "What's this guy talking about? Governments are conspiracies?" [PDF] Tell me whether this is true, that in an e-mail you said, "The total annihilation of the current U.S. regime or any other regime that holds its authority through mendacity alone could be accelerated or advanced by several years if WikiLeaks does its job right."

Assange: I don't know if I wrote that e-mail, but I recall that it spawned [controversy]. That I've read. I don't think the word "regime" was used. I believe the word [was] "administration."

Yes. Yes. He "didn't know" if he wrote an email calling for the total annihilation of the US government. And now he emphatically denies it.

      Does it burn?

      Please proceed, Governor.

as I pointed out in another comment above.

Having said that, it's a pretty silly controversy. If you read the email, it's pretty clear that whoever wrote it is taking about "annihilation of the current regime" (which would have been the Bush/Cheney regime at that time) in the same way a Democrat might talk about "annihilating the Tea Party movement" by voting them out of office. A bit over the top maybe, but it's not a call for violence, but for political change/reform.

Also as others mentioned, there's no name on the email anyway - it's from a list of dozens of emails from the Wikileaks mailing list, all which have the names blanked out. It could have been Assange, or some other member of the mailing list.
