They did not "zoom" over my head.

You just have a penchant for totally improbable hypotheticals I've noticed lately.

You've determined your scenarios are what will come to pass, which is your speculation and your opinion, and you have a right to those.

You said, "you're not going to pass legislation," and I then wonder how the VRA was passed originally.

Just because this Court ruled the way it did this last time does not mean new legislation will meet the same fate. The Court addressed this issue previously a few years ago, told congress to change it, and warned them that this day might come. New legislation will surely address the issues that lead to the recent ruling so as to keep the same legal basis used this last time from being used again next time. IOW, it will be harder for the Court to pull off. Not impossible, but harder.

You've posted a diary subsequent to the one in which this comment appears, so I will forego arguing with you further in an expired diary.

Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us.

...that if we are not going to pass legislation then we sure as hell are not going to impeach and convict any conservative justice since the same body that passes legislation does the impeachment and trial.

We Glory in war, in the shedding of human blood. What fools we are.
