Normally, I'm the very first to hand out the Benefit of the Doubt Compassion Card. I know people do a lot of stupid things because they are imperfect creatures.

But the WaPo story paints the picture:

    ‘God-written story’

The day before, in preparation, white lights were strung along the rafters of a barn and chairs set inside the corral where the ceremony would unfold before the pink blossoms of mimosa trees. Paper fans were printed with the “God-written story” of how the couple met doing relief work in Uganda and were tied with pale blue bows.

Fundamentalist Christian homophobes doing "relief work" in Uganda.  That makes me think twice -- or three, four or more  times -- about handing them a Benefit of the Doubt card.

Now, they could have been doing extremely valuable charitable works. I honestly don't know.

But these folks managed to get their little homophobic wedding set in Kentucky -- not say, Maryland or Virgina, where WaPo usually covers stuff like this -- in the Washington Post.

All this seems pretty hinky to me, like there is more going on than an attractive enough, if completely insecure, Kentucky couple.

That said, I really thought that Fundie God only showed up for weddings held in churches. I don't know him personally, but I've heard stories. He's pretty strict. I honestly thought barns weren't his thing since his agent screwed up his hotel reservations that Christmas years ago.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

    •  Kentucky? I thought it was Alabama. (1+ / 0-)

Your point is valid in either case, however.

Dogs from the street can have all the desirable qualities that one could want from pet dogs. Most adopted stray dogs are usually humble and exceptionally faithful to their owners as if they are grateful for this kindness. -- H.M. Bhumibol Adulyadej

I guess the idea of mimosas distracted me.

Oh, they were talking about trees?

        Darn...
