after the extreme 2002 Rodeo–Chediski Fire, this fire came close to destroying the city of Prescott. Prevention has been embraced, cleaning up the undergrowth and low hanging branching in our forrests. Driving around the area the difference is obvious. These proactive measures have not in any way detracted from the beauty and quality of the wooded areas. They have restored their health and longevity.

For those interested visit The Arizona Wildfire & Incident Management  Acadamy here In Prescott. Website at http://azwildfireacademy.org. This is where heros are trained to do this dangerous and necessary work. These firefighters, The Granite Mountain Hotshots, have done this job for years without national recognition (plenty of local recognition though). Lets make sure that our local team and those throughout the nation are recognized and appreciated before another tragedy happens rather than as a eulogy.
