  •  Was it before or after that... (4+ / 0-)

... when KKKarl Rove and Harriet Meiers thumbed their noses at Congress and didn't show up per their summonses...?

I don't recall either one ever was charged with a crime or had their asses hauled before Congress.

When such underlings were "untouchable" by even Congress, I knew that that was the final straw of having a legal government in charge.

We're still on the downward slide on a greased slippery slope toward a fascist nation in all but name.

The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power.
         — Franklin D. Roosevelt, April 29, 1938. Message to Congress

I'm sick of attempts to steer this nation from principles evolved in The Age of Reason to hallucinations derived from illiterate herdsmen. ~ Crashing Vor

like lying us into war & Cheney outting Valerie Plame.

We need to have consequences that are at least equal to someone shoplifting at Walmart.
