i'm surprised she didn't publish sooner- she almost got scooped by the guardian. but even if so, i still think greenwald would be making noise if he was suspicious of anything.

It's from a few weeks ago, but it speaks to your comment.

they're releasing the evidence in bursts, almost as if they want the government to keep proving itself dishonest in its responses. it also sounds like this was all very carefully planned, and it reinforces the failsafe argument. unless greenwald or someone says they've lost contact, i'm assuming they haven't.

The Guardian stated they have more than they have released or plant to (subject to vetting) and Snowden has stated that full copies of what he purloined, which is more than what he supplied to media, has been copied in encrypted copies held by several parties with third parties holding the crypto keys for release should he come to harm.

This explains why it is such a high stakes game for the USA and why, I suppose, they are using diplomatic tactics to pressure potential hosts and moderating the war of words through official channels.

It also makes Mr. Putin's remarks more interesting.

I have no doubt Russia would like the contents of his laptops, but whether they have got it is uncertain and (I think) unlikely because, at this point, they hold all the cards and in no hurry.

he said snowden is welcome to stay, but it obviously wouldn't look good if he was giving asylum to someone still leaking another country's classified data- many countries would think it didn't look good, so he essentially told snowden to finish his leaks first, then he can have asylum.
