  •  Do you not see how badly this could turn out? (1+ / 0-)

Not this one instance. I'm talking about establishing a precedent of impeaching when we're unhappy with the other two branches of govt, which Adam B alluded to.

Do you think it will only happen for cases in which you agree with impeachment?

What about if President Obama ends his term on a bad note and the GOP is able to steal back the WH and Senate?

Perhaps, maybe, if a sequence of bad press events turns the public away from the Democratic party? Or, if Dems, feeling disaffected, decide to stay home?

    It is not impossible.

The reason they're appointed for life is to insulate the judicial branch from the daily ebbs and flows of politics. Remember - any political weapon you wield can just as easily be used against you.

    •  Let me ask you a question. (0+ / 0-)

Some guy is actively beating you about the head with a crowbar.  Do you...

      a.  Wait for him to exhaust himself and leave, because fighting back might make him mad.

      b. Appeal for help to other people who have already been beaten by this guy and are lying on the ground unconscious.

      c. Take the crowbar from the bastard and lay him out.

Sign the petition to demand a law-abiding Supreme Court.

      •  That's a terrible analogy. (0+ / 0-)

If you don't want to respond to the actual question that I posed, that's fine. But asking me how I'd react to being beaten to death is a pretty ridiculous response to a question about a political strategy backfiring. Those are not analogous, not even remotely.
