Everything to do with females is bad in the Abraham based religions. Right from Eve on down, pain in childbirth is a punishment, our monthly period is unclean, we corrupt men and lead them astray, etc, it goes on and on. We'll never, ever be allowed to forget God gave us that rib. :O

I grew up Christian but took a pass on it when I hit my late teens / early 20s. The days of there being a benevolent, bearded old man in flowing robes beyond the pearly gates has long since passed for me. I still believe in a Great Spirit / the Force / whatever you want to call it, but am agnostic on the rest. I utterly reject modern day Christianity and it's subjugation and degradation of women.

(while we're on the subject...did you ever notice the Holy Trinity is a family without a female? Father, son, holy ghost/spirit? Isn't that fricken convenient? It's seems obvious to me, the "holy trinity" is father, mother, child. Your mileage may vary.)

I was reading Parmahansa Yogananda and he mentioned the Divine Mother. He said in Christianity she is referred to as the Holy Ghost. BAM, it hit me. Growing up Christan, I must have missed the equal part of the trinity, the Holy Ghost, not being referenced too much as female. They kind of hid her in plain sight. If it was referenced, I must have missed it.

Christianity downplays the part of the creative force that is the Divine Mother.

      How awful is that?

Truth is harmonious, lies are discordant.
