  •  When will you stop polluting? (0+ / 0-)

We can't go on destroying the earth's atmosphere. Yes Al Gore is a hypocrite, and the right wing pointing that out doesn't make it any less so.

No need to eliminate electricity, but most of us could cut our bill in half and hardly notice it. Do you really need AC? I live in the SW and I don't. Daily temps outside often hit triple digits yet by use of shade, a swamp cooler, and capture of night time cool air we don't use AC.

Global warming is not a strawman, it's very real and it's happening now, and by ignoring it or saying it's someone else's faut or everyone needs to change except me, it's not going to get better.

      polluting?"

You missed my point entirely. I agree with you that "most of us could cut our bill in half", although I think that I personally already use far fewer kilowatts than the average person due to my obsessive conservation.

And I did not say that global warming was a strawman, I said that focusing on individual energy-consuming activities and implying that people are BAD BAD BAD for doing them even occasionally is a strawman. I stand by my assertion.

We don't need to end air travel, we need to reduce it.

We don't need to end driving cars, we need to reduce it.

We don't need to stop burning all coal and natural gas to produce electricity today, we need to stop building new coal- and gas-fired plants and replace that load capacity with wind, solar, etc.

I mean, the more we conserve and the quicker we phase out fossil fuel consumption, the better. But the rightwingers use the "if you hate global warming, live in a cave and let the rest of us buy as much energy as we want to use with our hard-earned money" meme to ridicule the "librul" calls to reduce-reuse-recycle, and I hate to hear similar attacks from people supposedly on our side.
