  •  I just saw the weather news from a Reno (0+ / 0-)

station -- this hot weather created thunderclouds topping out at 50,000 feet above the Sierras, which caused heavy heavy rain and thunder strikes.   Flash flood warnings for much of Nevada,  and a football field size mudslide about 8 inches deep on Interstate 80 has closed both directions a mile and half west of the California and Nevada state line north Tahoe area.

All east west traffic is being rerouted, in some cases miles and miles out of their way -- major economic impact because of the Holiday this week.     This is the major east-west motor corridor for central California / Nevada.

Global warming is becoming increasingly disruptive.

    •  Woah. (0+ / 0-)

Interstate 80 over Donner has epic resistance against closure. That must have been a lot of mud.

Fry, don't be a hero! It's not covered by our health plan!
