have ever known.  Those of us who know and appreciate him are concerned so save the snark for another diary please.

      •  am concerned. mentioned sympathy & not (0+ / 0-)

trying to be snarky but is is illogical and unwise to hike alone

even amateurs know that FACT let alone seasoned expert hikers

I have a friend who takes part in rescuing foolish hikers all the time

She is a volunteer with the program and they go out in groups to search for unwise people and

TRULY SAD cases like an elderly man with Alzheimer wandering off into a national park area

non Alzheimer sufferer who hiked alone elicits sympathy BUT also elicits WTF was going through his head to hike alone

people are risking their lives now to find him for his unwise choice

        •  People should be searching for him in safe and (2+ / 0-)

competent manor, not risking their lives, and I'm sure they are. They choose to do what they do because they want to. If they are risking their lives they should find a different diversion.

Randy is a very competent climber on rock, snow and ice. A friend was  regular partner fifteen years ago. Randy is anything but a foolish hiker.
