  •  The third time I was called, in 2008... (9+ / 0-)

...I was empanelled. On a jury in a civil case, about an accident at a signalized intersection in Chicago.

Did I mention that I was a traffic engineer working for the City of Chicago at the time? And that my supervisor was a witness in the trial?

Turned out that the plantiff's attorney was more interested in the big settlements he was hoping for, than doing his job correctly, and didn't say boo during voire dire. Same thing for an economist on the jury, who actually studied compensation in court cases.

The plantiff did get something for her pains.

I haven't been called since then, and I retired in 2010, so I'd have more time now.
