  •  I disagree that a colorblind society (7+ / 0-)

is the goal. It might be for some, it's not for me. I've fought that my whole life. What that translates to for me is denial of what makes me, me.

I'd rather see a color-full society in which we're all accepted.

Some may argue that's semantics; a distinction without a difference. It's not for me.

We view "The Handmaid's Tale" as cautionary. The GOP views it as an instruction book.

    •  My experiences (4+ / 0-)

as a person of color in this society are part of what has formed me and part of what makes me who I am and who I am becoming as I continue to live and learn and grow... it is, frankly, insulting to dismiss it as superficial and therefore irrelevant or unnecessary in understanding how I view things...

Fear doesn't just breed incomprehension. It also breeds a spiteful, resentful hate of anyone and everyone who is in any way different from you.

Cuz who wants to live in a homogeneous world?

The trick is not to feel threatened by something, or look down upon as inferior, simply because it's different.
