    How is Morsi spelled? CNN web has been "Morsy" all day - it may be both ways, but it's bugging.

      You might as well ask how to spell the name of the former leader of Libya :~)

      There is no single standard for how to Romanize Arabic, and media outlets tend to subscribe to one or another standard, some that adhere more closely to transcription and others to vocalization. Thus you'll see "Morsi," "Mursi" (my preference), "Morsy" and even "Mursy." The most accurate would probably be "Mursī" with a macron to indicate the length of the final vowel, but most folks don't love diacritical marks.
