  •  Sadly, in this country, (17+ / 0-)

expatjourno doesn't get to determine what is legal and illegal. Our society has laws and courts and a judicial system that does that.

If Liberals hated America, we'd vote Republican.

    •  Secret laws, secret courts and secret decisions... (4+ / 0-)

...that cannot be appealed or challenged because they are secret.

Which make the Constitution and the rule of law a dead letter. So then our laws are whatever the president tells one of his lawyers to write, secretly.

That, my friend, is known as tyranny. Plain and simple. Not democracy, not a republic, not the rule of law. It is a government of men, not laws.

Well, I just don't think Obama is a king. I don't think he gets to decide with his handpicked secret court what rights he deigns to let the citizens retain.

Obama is the Chickenshit-in-Chief for failing to stand up to Republicans on all their phony scandals, from the "beer summit," to Van Jones, "death panels," Shirley Sherrod, contraception, Benghazi, and the IRS.

But you kind of lose it here:

our laws are whatever the president tells one of his lawyers to write
Nope. You're off by a mile. That's a completely ridiculous assertion and reveals a complete lack of understanding regarding the legislative process and the Constitution. Come back when you figure out what is wrong with that statement. If you don't mind, I'll pass on responding to tyranny crap since it was based on your misunderstanding of the role of the President.

        Thanks for playing.

If you can. But you can't.

(though I thought I did that already)
This is completely wrong: "our laws are whatever the president tells one of his lawyers to write"

            So yes I can.

Meaning, secret laws, secret courts and secret decisions that cannot be appealed or challenged because they are secret make the Constitution and the rule of law a dead letter, making our laws into whatever the president tells one of his lawyers to write, secretly.

Well, I just don't think Obama is entitled to the powers of a king. I don't think he gets to decide with his handpicked secret court what rights he deigns to let the citizens retain.

              •  ummm... (0+ / 0-)

The laws were passed by Congress, implemented by the Executive an reviewed by the Judiciary. The fact that some things happened outside of public scrutiny is potentially troublesome, but it isn't tyranny.

BTW, The President doesn't have a hand-picked secret court. That is a complete falsehood. But I guess without bullshit hyperbole how would you be able to rant on.
