Escrache is the name given in Argentina, Uruguay and Spain... to a type of demonstration in which a group of activists go to the homes or workplaces of those who they want to condemn and publicly humiliate in order to influence decision makers and governments into a certain course of action. This term was born in Argentina in 1995 and has since spread to other Spanish-speaking countries.
There was recently an article that mentioned that Park Avenue in NYC is Billionaires Road. On a similar note, I've often thought that protests at government facilities and banks are less effective than they would be outside major media outlets.

it has been effective in Spain, at least effective in that it has hit a nerve with the austerity politicians of the PP who had to bring their school age children out of home through spaliers of protesters calling them akll kinds of immoral things in front of their children, That got them really pissed and they responded and called the escracheros terrorists. As I said I am unsure about it.

Also in Spain a regional legislation, the Andalucia province, where the government is or was a coalition of socialists and people left of the socialists, has made an interesting decree. That seemed to take away or suspend some property based rights of banks to throw people out of houses (unable mortgage payers of course). This has caused a major uproar in the higher ranks of the EU bureaucracy, because it was a direct attack on property rights versus inhabitance rights. EU threatened to take it down by court, but now the andalucian government seems to have broken anyway, I am not sure.

Theres a strong movement behind this, the Stop Desahuchios platform.

larger point is, people in Spain are experimenting with various forms of rather pointed if not lightly radical resistance. this is I think something that US Americanos could benefit from hearing of.

Somewhere back at the beginning of the Iraq war, and again during the Occupy protests, I said something to this effect.
