  •  Oh, honey, lots of people (5+ / 0-)

don't know a lot of things, including me. ;)  I cannot tell the whole story from square one every time I make a remark, or I would be subject to many tl;dr replies, but anyone who wants clarification at any time is more than welcome to kosmail me (not that I am the World's Expert on any given topic).

"iframe" is the default embed code that YouTube provides when you click "embed". It's recognizable because it starts with "<iframe". DK3, the previous version of Daily Kos, didn't accept the iframe code, so it was necessary to select "Use old embed code" when posting a YouTube video.

Nowadays, that is not necessary, and in fact, with this change YouTube made a week or so ago, it's more difficult, because Daily Kos has adjusted to use the changed code in the iframe version, but not the old-code version, so the latter still requires tweaking.

There is one other thing that will break a YouTube embed, and that is un-checking the box that says "Show suggested videos when the video finishes". If you want to de-select that, then you will have to add the "http:" to the url in the code, even when using iframe.
