in the face every once in awhile and knocks that idea out. I've been lucky that I chose a line of work that is highly skilled and specialized. The down side is that there aren't a lot of jobs out there for people with my skills. The upside is that there aren't a lot of people that can do what I do... and we are all aging. So as the job market for us shrinks... and is has been steadily... so has the workforce with the knowledge and experience to do the job. I've watched the layoffs get closer and closer to me over the years and know that I am not individually indispensable. I also know that while my job is staying put for now it is only because we are hard to replace and it is only for now. I expect to see them slowly start creating staff in my area in the new location and once they have a functioning staff there I expect to hear that our jobs are now moving. I figure I have somewhere between 2-5 years... but that's it.
