    Life has been hectic. Whatever happened to the lazy summer days? It's mostly just oddball stuff at work. Someone quit without notice, which left someone else I know doing two jobs for the same salary (grr)...

    Can't wait for the weekend. Except it's going to rain the whole time. Oh well.

    One example of this can be seen in the experience of race-based trauma, as many White therapists are dismissive of the impact of racism on their minority clients. Having never been subjected to the minority experience, it may not have occurred to them that racism could be traumatic.
    That's disturbing, considering the profession ostensibly trains its practitioners to help people through all kinds of trauma that the therapist may never have personally experienced, but it speaks to the strong subconscious hold of white privilege maintains in the culture. It's easier to dismiss such trauma if you're personally dismissive of the pervasive nature of racism, as we know too many folks are these days. Hell, racism denial rears its head on Daily Kos all too often, so elsewhere...
