of a sinkhole and then never saw any more. Now I know what that was.

I think it is important for us to recognize how much of our stuff is as old as the 1890s and older. Around here there was a huge spate of church-building in 1835. Recently they all needed new spires before they fell off at the same time. It was odd-looking to drive through more than one town with its steeple on the ground on the same day.
Our Library is made of beautiful red sandstone- which crumbles if you just stare at it too hard in this climate.
Churches and historic buildings need maintenance, and money for this comes from donors, but in my area it also comes from the fees paid when you get the title searched in order to buy a property. And this cuts to the core of what is wrong with the Mortgage Electronic Registration System. If the County does not receive this income from fees and taxes on real estate transactions because the computer machine in the middle is pretending to be whichever identity is necessary to 'be the owner' at that time and it never really changes hands, then We the People are screwed out of the funds we need to upkeep this country.

We are all pupils in the eyes of God.
