our tiny town does a fireworks display each year, and even when we don't go (drive five minutes to "metropolitan downtown Tinytown"), we can still hear all the popping. And I like it, either way. It's part of what our community does on the Fourth.

And while I'm a Blue living in an overwhelmingly Red geographic area (and town, and neighborhood), and I know that their celebratory spirit is pretty differently motivated than mine ("2012 and I've still got ma guns," "2013 and I've still got ma guns"), I still privately celebrate stuff like Wendy Davis and SB5 in my mind as I am celebrating with my community.

Sometimes folks in the local neighborhood where we all spread our blankets and sit on our chairs will set off some of their own stuff during the big show, at the largest intersection nearby. (We're big enough to have more than one intersection in town.) And that's fun too.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I don't have any pets. If I did and there were problems, I'm sure I would feel the same as some of you.

I'm amazed by people's courage and kindness in the face of everything and life.
