  •  You're talking as if this is all some cosmic law (0+ / 0-)

and not a nation of people making decisions, including yourself.  If you oppose impeachment, then defend the consequences of allowing this Supreme Court majority to continue contracting the viability of American democracy in order to put Republicans in power.  If you would not oppose it, then choose to support it in some way and don't use the excuse of what you think some distant politician will or won't support.

As for the 2000 Bush v. Gore litigation, what would you have proposed we do?  Riot?  Bomb?
General strike would have been the obvious response.  That's what people who care about their freedom do when some arrogant oligarchy just ignores how they vote and installs their own choice in power.  You may choose to take complacent comfort in self-fulfilling prophecies about what Americans do or don't do - I'm American, and I'm ashamed we tolerated the 2000 coup.

Your proposed general strike (in reaction to Bush v Gore decision) would have had miniscule participation and mostly by people who were not working anyway - students, unemployed, retirees.  People who actually have jobs would not have risked their jobs on such a course of action.

Besides, it was Bill Clinton's apparent need for blow jobs in the White House that hurt Gore's chances.  With a booming economy and budget surpluses for the first time in many decades, Gore should have won handily - but many voters I know voted for Bush because they were disgusted with Clinton's sex acts in the White House.   To this day, Clinton is unable to practice law - after lying under oath in a federal court proceeding.

If Clinton had resigned and Gore had run as the incumbent, Gore would have been elected in 2000 handily.

I campaigned for, phone banked for, walked precincts for and double-maxed donated to both of Clinton's campaigns in 1992 and 1996 and to Gore's 2000 campaign - but Clinton's blow jobs in the White House with Monica Lewinsky hurt Gore greatly.
