I had no problem with the addition of God Bless America post-9/11.  The nation needed healing, & if that song during the 7th inning stretch provided relief/catharsis, then hooray for that.

But the addition of that song, & the praise of the military at that time, has indeed become a habit, & not without a little traditionalist intent mixed in with the natural propensity of our species to create new rituals.  Undoing ritual/tradition seems to be substantially more culturally hazardous than creating it, which is odd, because usually destruction is much easier than creation.

Something to keep in mind: baseball's fan demographic is substantially older than that of the other pro sports, & probably more likely to support the salutes to the military & the continued singing of God Bless America.  By all means, contact MLB front offices & express frustration with encroaching religiousity & militarism, but set your expectations accordingly.

It's time to start letting sleeping dinosaurs lie, lest we join them in extinction by our consumption of them.

in its bottle any time soon.

It may replace its magic carpet with a drone, but that's about it.

I wonder if Kasich's two young daughters know what Daddy just did to them?
