    that when they poll the issues they wabt a candidate to cover, liberal values tend to rule supreme, but when a candidate comes along who actually embraces these values, he's mercilessly ridiculed and  the cry goes up that he doesn't have a chance in hell.

      up thread, that Mark Lippman mentioned, but it's not darkness. It's a plastic facade or a hologram.

      We have a distinctly fake reality that nobody believes interpersonally or as a person, but in our public understanding, or as a people slavishly give in to these days it is impenetrable.

      I've been saying this for 17 years now - attack corporate. Corporate sponsored public policy is the plastic or the hologram we are stumbling around in.

      It's nearly taken hold as a zeitgeist, but the ground is shifting again, and it's likely to be misplaced and forgotten about as we get our bearings in that new plastic reality.
