  •  The roadmap for GOP utopia (2+ / 0-)

No need to speculate, the roadmap for Republican nirvana has been out there for over 60 years. It's called 1984 by George Orwell.

Orwell's companion piece describes the perfect social order in this utopian paradise and is called Animal Farm. The underlying truth of these perfect worlds is captured in the timeless, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

As we recently saw, the Roberts' Supreme Court embraced this concept in its decision on the Voting Rights Act. Also, the Republican House will no doubt pursue amending the Constitution after they prevent all abortion, arm every citizen with lethal firepower, mandate that every citizen accept Jesus and the Koch Brothers as their personal savior, promote all harmful chemical substances for their health benefits, remove all restrictions on all activities of "job creators" (who will be means tested--no one with net worth below 1 billion need apply), and the list goes on but I'm running out of space...and I'm sure you've all seen this movie already.

....is that the proles were relatively free.

The NSA wants to control everyone by watching their communications, not just the low-level party apparatchiks.  And the Anti-Sex leagues are much more active among the proles here than they were in 1984.

9-11 changed everything? Well, Katrina changed it back.

I know what you're saying, but it comes out strange to hear that it was a "problem" that the "proles" were relatively free.

I read 1984 and Animal Farm back in college (maybe high school?) and haven't done a full revisit since. But my perception of Orwell's vision and the point I was trying to make was that a totally totalitarian regime with the face of "big brother" prescribed or proscribed all behavior as acceptable or unacceptable. Sounds like a Republican wet dream to me.
