allow propaganda or Apologencia nonsense to distract from which person is the greater threat.

The excuses for Obama's behavior have long since passed the point of predictability neccessary to qualify as an absurd production of Kabuki Theater.

    •  Go get em Don Quixote! (2+ / 0-)

In the mean time the rest of us are going to try to do something about the Patriot Act.

      •  Do something about Patriot Act, you say? (0+ / 0-)

Is that the same Patriot Act that President Obama called on Congress to renew to "Keep Us Safe"?  Viewing it with such importance that he signed it remotely using an Electronic Pen?

        It is, isn't it?

        Good luck with that.

        •  You have to start somewhere John. (0+ / 0-)
          •  I agree: And where I think we need to start (0+ / 0-)

is with education - and a realization that supporting corporate candidates under the BS meme of "lesser of two evils" gets us... nowhere.

The mere fact that the head of the Democratic Party & President publicly praised Wall Street Predators - defending them, in essence - from common anger.. should have been enough of a clue for anyone to realize that corporate 1% candidates will never change the system.

We must realize that IF we want to take back the Democratic Party and restore it to some semblance of being an Opposition Party (opposed to the 1% NeoLiberal / Imperial policies) - we must be willing to do the unthinkable:  And that is, put Policy above Party.

Think about this for a minute:

A President, Democrat - publicly defends & praises the banksters during a time when the banksters were almost universally loathed by both the "right" and "left".

Obama has also pushed through more Free Trade Job Off-shoring and is pushing through in secret the odious Trans Pacific Partnership.

Someone who structurally supports the 1% - when it's his power to do so and he isn't being forced - is not going to fight for the 99%.

And why should he?  Why on Earth would any Democrat - except say Alan Grayson - fight for the 99% when they know all they need do is wave the GOP Boogeyman?

One thing all politicians know:  The 1% Hold Them Accountable.  The 99%?  Can be bought with Rhetoric They Can Starve On.

It is time to wake up, exit the Kabuki Theater of the Absurd, and enact the change we want by only supporting those candidates whose actions - not just words - demonstrate support for the 99%.

Writing letters to Obama on any subject which touches on Empire, the 1%, or our Police State is about as effective as writing the Koch brothers regarding environmental and workers' issues.

Btw - Obama is not the cause;  He is the symptom of what is wrong today.  He isn't alone:  There's Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, etc... the upper corridors of power in the Democratic Party are not aligned to the 99%'s concerns or needs.

They engage in Kabuki Theater Acts to keep us coming back for more.  I, for one, have had enough.  I will no longer support candidates who do not reflect my values.

Doing so only reinforces the existing power structure, making it all the more difficult for truly 99% supportive candidates to gain power.

People often complain about "Blue Dogs" or "Corporate Dems".  What did they expect would happen when they supported such candidates?  The Blue Dogs / Corporate Dems control the Party.

They, along with their backers, have no inclination of giving that control up.  It works too well for them.

Only when folks are truly ready to hold them accountable - and FIRE THEM - will space be made to take back the Democratic Party.

The excuses for Obama's behavior have long since passed the point of predictability neccessary to qualify as an absurd production of Kabuki Theater.
