  •  It's not wild hyperbole. (8+ / 0-)

It's Frank Luntz style framing, and something we ought to get good at. Moreover, it's true.

Someone would get the Frank Luntz type reference, complete with his "air quotes".. I decided to remove the air quotes around "killing babies" because I thought no one would get the inside reference, after a message about it.. but it makes me feel better someone subconsciously or concioously made the connection.

We aren't capable of it, it seems. I watched while Republicans rammed through some initiatives in California that would literally cause deaths. The Democrats went on the air with some weak sauce about 'reducing protections' and crap like that.

How hard is it to say, "IF THIS LAW HAD BEEN AROUND TWENTY YEARS AGO, BEST ESTIMATES SAY THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE IN CALIFORNIA WOULD HAVE DIED OF ARSENIC POISONING." Nope. We don't do it. It's gauche. It's strident. It's, dare I say it, rabble-rousing. We leave that sort of thing to those ill-tempered Republicans.
