there are many excellent diaries here that can quickly fall off the list

this one was posted early if one is on EST, or late for the people in the west

many people active in politics or in general change agents have ADD

there might be regulars here who also have worked with this

some of my story is in a comment to this diary

There have been some rather mystical stories about the millennial generation for some years now and about why so many have ADD.  Of course there are the medical research stories too, most of them seemingly trying to pin it on the mother, as usual.  But there are others, such as the Indigo children theories. Well they really are new age type mythical predictions, not so much theories.  In essence, they speculate that it's a portent of major changes to come, and nature's way of foreseeing and preparing for it.  Given that all of my guys have some form of ADD, I've read these things with curiosity.

      •  Let Me Tell You A Happy Story (4+ / 0-)

I was told I was ADD. This was in this in the 70s. My grandfather was a doctor and he said he "saw" it, long before it was called whatever it is called now. My parents at the time where told to force coffee down my throat to make me "normal." Many drugs now do the same thing.

I can recall to this day sitting in a kitchen being forced to drink coffee when I was 8 or 9. It only took a few times and my parents were like this ain't right.

I was a kid that was kind of "off" but trying to give me a ton of caffeine, as a way to drug me wasn't what they wanted. It might have been hard for my parents to deal with me, but alas I turned out OK.

Even of somewhat strange, neurotic. I am who I am and later when drugs where offered for me, my parents didn't give them to me!
