    •  Tom Pauken, Greg Abbot (7+ / 0-)
Former Texas Republican chairman Tom Pauken will file today for governor, challenging for the job now held by Gov. Rick Perry. Pauken is a former Reagan administration official who most recently served as Perry’s appointee to head the Texas Workforce Commission. He resigned this month and says Texas needs a new kind of leader who will revamp public education, end crony capitalism and solve problems, not divide people. Perry hasn’t said whether he will seek reelection next year. Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott is looking at the 2014 governor’s race as well.
Now that Rick Perry has taken himself out of the 2014 gubernatorial race, Texas on the Potomac is looking at the two early contenders for the Republican nomination for governor, Attorney General Greg Abbott and former Texas GOP chairman Tom Pauken. This profile of Abbott was written by Jay Root of the Texas Tribune.

“Texas is a so-called red state, but you’ve got 10 million Democrats here in Texas. And …, there are a whole lot of people here in Texas who need us, and who need us to fight for them.” President Obama

Although I'm not sure he's far enough right for the GOP in Texas.  His position with the TWC says a lot.  No doubt part of Perry's corrupt crony deal with Chase Bank for UI recipients to be forced to get their debit cards through Chase.

I am so ready for the gubernatorial race to start...NOW!

        Go Wendy!

I'm part of the "bedwetting bunch of website Democrat base people (DKos)." - Rush Limbaugh, 10/16/2012 Torture is Wrong! We live near W so you don't have to. Send love.

Wendy isn't the only name to keep in mind, although an excellent choice, as we all know, and gaining huge name-recognition. But don't forget the Castro brothers. Both current San Antonio mayor Julian (keynote speaker at the 2012 DNC), and current U.S. Rep Joaquin, are very viable possibilities for statewide office. The twins are young at 38 years of age, good looking, and dynamic, engaging speakers popular with not only Latino voters, but across-the-board younger demographics, as well as forward thinking whites.

This good news today has energized me - it has been so, so long since real hope has raised it's pretty head here. And this is another glimpse in just two short weeks. Woo hoo!

      Truth is patriotic.
