  •  My son and I have argued (4.00)
because I said I would take him out of the country if there was a draft...(he's 15) and he feels that he should go if drafted.  Damn it.  We have instilled fairness and concern and empathy for fellow human beings in our children.  I have put the hard sell on my kids not to join the military, even though we have loved being an army family most of the past 19 years.  I do not want my sons or my husband going off to a war I never believed in, for a commander in chief I cannot respect.
I hope that things will get better for you and your family.

    Random and arbitrary.

    •  you sound just like my mother and father (none)
Who have both told my brother (19--who is much like your son, willing to go) and me (22--female) that they'll pay for our tickets to stay with our English National brother in Shefield England.

My mom and I celebrated two years ago when Dad hit the 5 years since he retired from the Coast Guard, they can't touch him... and on that note, it is with tears in my eyes and love in my heart that I wish your son, your family and those who are going through this same thing--to come home safely.

(My boyfriend is in the Navy and served in Iraq earlier, I wasn't dating him then, but I'm scared now that he'll have to go back.)
