    Quicklund, deep info

Just some history for you.  The longest fascist dictatorship in modern history was also overthrown by a supposed military coup but not one shot was fired in the Carnation Revolution and it was the people who ultimately turned the tide.  Without popular support the end of the New State in Portugal probably would have never happened when it did.  It was popular support that pushed the revolution.

Oh also, last I checked the French Revolution wasn't stated by the people either.  It was started by the aristocrats who wanted more power for themselves.  The people took the revolution over and many of those same aristocrats either fled for their lives or had their necks kissed by Mme. Guillotine.

The common thread is that the will of the people was the thing that drove these revolutions.  Chinese history is littered with failed military coups led by military leaders who thought they had a mandate by the gods and the people only to find out they were wrong.

If the military leaders in Egypt make the mistake of thinking they're greater than the revolution and the desire of the public for a better government by, of and for the people, they too will befall the same fate as the leaders they deposed.  Sooner or later the despots all fall or die.
