    I don't know the reasons why it is, but I thought it had to do with legally excluding parties whose stated purpose includes the destruction of the United States. In any case, a Dominionist Party would be opposed to the Constitution itself, and therefore should count as one of the "enemies, foreign and domestic" against which we citizens are supposed to defend the Constitution.

      They can't get elected dog catcher, but it's not illegal for it to exist.  Here is their website: http://cpusa.org/
      But I don't think their goal is "destruction of the United States."

      There does exist one party whose goal is to "destroy" the union, at least to some extent, that party being Todd Palin's Alaska Independence Party, whose goal is Alaska secession from the Union.

      I don't think the US has made any political party "illegal" to exist.
