  •  NO. THIS is what must STOP. (0+ / 0-)

I can't tell how serious you are/aren't being here, but if you are serious, you gotta stop doing this, because it causes damage to all concerned, by which I mean the world.

Can you tell me Snowden's position on, for example, climate change, simply by virtue of his Ron Paul-supporter status?  No, you can't.  The same goes for many other policy issues.  But (this assumes you are serious) you may have tricked yourself into placing Snowden into substantial alignment with Paul on any number of policies.  Mistake mistake mistake, the definition of prejudice: pre-judging.

There's a shitload of (generally young) people who support Paul because they are good people who are also low info voters.  All they really know is he's pro-weed & anti-war, & that seems good enough for them.  Boo on them for having little knowledge of destructive economic libertarianism, but if we then assume their mental states are defective, then boo on us, bigtime.

It's time to start letting sleeping dinosaurs lie, lest we join them in extinction by our consumption of them.

    •  Well, if he's concerned (0+ / 0-)

about climate change, then supporting either Paul is about as absurd as you can get, isn't it?

I mean, we'll just trust Exxon/BP et al without bothering with those petty regulations and such...

      •  The point is we don't know, & that even if we did, (0+ / 0-)

his support of Paul does not invalidate all his other positions & actions.  We cannot be usefully judgmental in that manner & expect to make progress.

Everyone prioritizes their issues.  If Snowden's primary concerns are civil liberties, then his support of Paul makes more sense, in conjunction with the huge risk he's taken by revealing what he has.  We might disagree that civil liberties are the top priority, but we should not declare that anyone claiming so is mentally deficient.  Would anyone dare claim that about LGBT equal rights?
