    Senate Republicans can read the writing on the wall because they've seen the statewide election results. They know they are now headed towards routinely losing statewide elections in presidential years. They see how they couldn't beat Harry Reid even in a tidal wave year.

    House Republicans however believe they have gerrymandered their way to safety. But this safety is only temporary. Eventually, the national tide will begin to impact state elections and how districts are drawn. After that, congressional districts are going to get redrawn. By that time, Republicans will have lost an entire generation of young people and Latinos to Democrats.

    So they can fight tooth and nail for a lost cause, but in the end it will end the same way for them that the Civil War did.
