    and to a lesser extent Asians.  But watch Spanish-language TV, they're very much on top of the immigration reform issue.  Problem is, not enough of them live in red districts to influence the votes of Republicans.

    Also a problem is the fact that the liberal commentariat and liberal activists such as the kind you often find at places like Daily Kos don't much care for the issue, and not a small number are actively hostile to immigration reform.

    But don't think for a second that such folks are representative of liberals in general or the Democratic base.  The base is much more diverse than what is represented here, and immigration reform is far more important to them than seems to be the case on the liberal intertubes.
