    Surveillance is here to stay whether we like it ore not.  

    Those declarative sentences make you sound authoritative, when in fact you're just another visitor positing their opinion on a blog.

      Of the commenters. Declaratives about the future represent beliefs as well.

        but there's a method to it as well--if you post a "declarative sentence" in straightforward language, many people will take it as fact, or at least opinion steeped in fact.

        I'm not saying it was done here in this instance, but I call it out regularly, because it can also be a propaganda technique.

      All 3 branches of government, both political parties, and the majority of the population support it.  That's why I say its here to stay.  Not authority, common sense.
