    Bicycle trailers can connect to the rear hub, to the seat post, or to the rear triangle of the frame.  I have an old kid trailer that I dismantled to make into a cargo trailer, and it hooks to the rear triangle.  

    What I would recommend is to look for a used trailer that hooks to either the seat post or to the rear triangle.  That way you could connect it to any bike you can get your hands on.

    The kiddie trailers are all rated for at least 50 lbs., which should be enough to get your laundry to the laundromat.
