  •  They control the House with a minority of votes (4+ / 0-)

If we dolled out seats in the House by voting percentages it would be Democratic. And don't get me started on Wyoming's 600,000 residents holding the same power in the Senate as California's 38,000,000. The Republicans have worked hard to turn their obvious minority status into a legislative force to be reckoned with. But they are a clear minority.

Sorry conservatives, but Occam's Razor isn't a beard trimmer for jihadists. What it means is I don't have to accept your crazy-assed theories as an alternative to reality.

      •  Wouldn't that have to go thru congress or SCOTUS? (1+ / 0-)

QED. Holding your breath or banging your head will have to suffice.

The laws about how states apportion districts are solely their own business. In fact by overturning part of the VRA the SCOTUS as much said it's not the federal government's job to make oversee it. If we want to prevent future abuses of power by Repugs it seems working at the state level might be our best (and maybe only) hope.

You can legislate all you want and have it declared unconstitutional either at the state level or fed. Gross malfeasance on redistricting can and is being done at state levels and they're screwing us all over the place.

are perfectly legal. We had one on last November's ballot. The problem is passing them when the Koch Brothers and other well-funded special interests are willing to pay tens of millions of dollars for the Republicans to lie them to defeat.
