    With so many states moving towards becoming the grotesquely-named "right-to-work" states, won't they just fire people for being gay and then give no reason for it?

      not to allow employers to fire people for discriminatory reasons. See this link.

      The concept that you are referring to is At-Will Employment which gives an employer the right to fire an employee without giving a reason. It's used throughout the country. As long as an employer doesn't state a wrongful reason, or it can be proved by other evidence that the reason was unlawfully discriminatory, it's fine and dandy.

      Something like ENDA is important, because it gives statutory support to employees whose firing may have been for discriminatory (but unstated) reasons.
