    though, or does any Frankenstein bill coming out of committee then have to be voted on again? If so, I don't even think it will get past a Senate filibuster, which may be why the Rs let it pass in the first place . . .

      and I mean different in anyway, both chambers must pass the new bill.  So the theory is that the House will pass a wingnutty bill, the conference bill will make some (hopefully minor) alterations to the Senate bill to appease some House R's and then Boehner will break the Hastert rule for conference, passes with a small Rep boost to the Dem minority.  Getting anything resembling sanity requires breaking Hastert (and not just on immigration).

        I'm betting the Senate--the Rs in the Senate, that is, will not allow anything else to pass regardless of what Boehner does/doesn't allow in the House. It's all part of the Kabuki dance, doncha know?
