of a very strict zero tolerance standard for any type of advocacy concerning a particular subject matter on this site -- in my impression, stricter even than CT and similar serious ban-worthy offenses. This was not an algorithm phenomenon. Not only was the user Bojo'd, but all of his diaries appear to have been administratively removed -- he became persona non grata in extremis.

This zero tolerance also appears to have been applied to you as a TU whose uprate reflected a failure to appreciate the unequivocal site standards concerning this type of diary -- irrespective of the diarist's subsequent comments that you apparently missed.

I'm quite sympathetic to your situation and explanation ... but perhaps if you are able to recognize and acknowledge the legitimate gravity of the concern of site Admins about this issue, your "time-out" will be brief.

Of course, in order to be aware of that dynamic, I'd have to spend a lot more time poking around parts of the site I don't normally choose to go.

It feels like I wandered off the path I normally travel and got my foot stuck in a bear trap. It hurts.

With out the actual diary to re read I have no way to recognize much less acknowledge any legitimate gravity of the concern behind a draconian zero tolerance policy.

I feel a bit like Shylock in the Merchant of Venice, buffeted by a dynamic I had no part in making, and no way out. Well, we are all only human after all.

      •  I'd respectfully suggest (0+ / 0-)

that the evident Admin handling here provides sufficient evidence of the gravity, without need to re-read the particular advocacy arguments that are now deleted for all of us.

As I noted, I appreciate your sense of surprise, frustration and even personal wounding as you've explained.  You became part of the Administrative message to the community quite unintentionally and it seems inadvertently -- but if you are able to distinguish your own personal feelings from the necessary community standard involved, I trust Admin will respond positively with a short period of penance.

Good luck on getting back to your earned status.  Your sincerity on this is equally evident.

        •  Evidence of the gravity: yes. (0+ / 0-)

Evidence of the legitimate gravity? Jury's still out.

I appreciate the difficulty of community moderation. I would call Kos's method 'workable' rather than 'ideal'. Although roving bands of donut flingers and making some subjects tabu because of the inability to moderate reasonable discussions on those subjects calls the 'workable' designation into question.

Certainly I have no intention of becoming a moderator. Been there, done that, got the tee shirt, and the scars underneath the shirt.

But I am too old to, can't think of another way to put this, suck up to the powers that be by recognizing they have issues with certain subjects and apologizing for having inadvertently crossed lines they had not clearly drawn until now. But I am not too old to resent becoming part of the Administrative message to the community.
