  •  Oh, good! (10+ / 0-)

That makes me really happy, and he'll be thrilled. :-)

We're lucky in late summer and fall, because we grow a lot of our own produce.  We also both have food-related health issues, and there's only one organic real food market here, locally owned.  I only set foot in Albertson's or Smith's to buy something I can't get there, usually supplies of some sort more often than food. We can get buffalo from Picuris Pueblo's Bison Project, and beef from our neighbors (literally; the dogs sometimes have to herd the cattle back home).  And we grow our own hay and get other feed for the horses and chickens from local mom-and-pop places.

Sadly, though, for a lot of just general supplies for day-to-day living, there's exactly one local option:  Wal-Mart.  We both loathe the place, and avoid it as much as possible, but sometimes, there's just no choice.  We're 2+ hours away from the nearest small city (Santa Fe), so quite often, we have to hold our noses and deal with it.

Authentic Native American silverwork, jewelry, photography, and other art here.
