    (Meanwhile, with all the cash you're raking in from selling the oil, coal and gas, you might as well buy up things like private water rights so the rest of us can become serfs to  you when fresh water grows increasingly scarce.)
    To help fresh water grow increasingly scarce, those same oil and gas companies, in an effort to extract from the earth as much of their product as possible, are using the process of fracking, which uses enormous amounts of fresh water to make a chemical soup to release the hydrocarbons from rock.  This soup, after use, is then forced back into the ground or held in "containment pools" as it can never be utilized for fresh water purposes in the future.

    Buy up the rights to market a product that your actions are making more scarce, therefore more expensive.  What a business plan!
