      I don't go much lower level than python but I've been around the open source world long enough to know developers tend to be incredibly conservative when it comes to adopting new technology, no matter where it comes from.    If people who know what they are doing take a look at the code and decide it's OK, I'm going to trust it.  I know Google is the backing force behind android but I trust them on this one.  Again, it's an open source project.  If they let something in that's a problem, another group can just fork it and pull the offending code out.
