Many people think that killing Roe vs. Wade is their endgame, but listen to what the forced-birthers themselves are always saying: "abortion and contraception".

They're going for Griswald. They want to eliminate all right to privacy in reproductive decisions.

Thus, be prepared for condoms & IUDs to become bootleg black-market contraband as well.

      That and hormonal BC.

That's the REAL target of the personhood amendments. Heard that from a Sunday School classmate who was heavily into the state Right To Life group, years ago - SBC church, she thought no one against that goal was in the room. They think anything that prevents implantation is abortion - which definitely includes IUDs and in their minds includes any hormonal BC (because they think it could block implantation of an egg that got released anyway).

Condoms they'd have to do more work to get rid of. Hormonal BC and IUDs they think they can manage just by playing with definitions.

...is telling teenagers that condoms are not only useless, but dangerous (because Jesus, I guess).

Condoms may not be the #1 target, but putting them back "behind the counter" — & re-inventing the stigma against their use — is definitely on the short list of goals.

Poor teachers in middle school. By the Official Curricula provided by The Powers Up On High, the efficacy of condoms changed each year and at least once we were given the 'HIV is smaller than natural holes in all latex' speech.

Because there are people who value there being a dichotomy between complete abstinence and completely unsafe 'you'll die if you do it even once' sex. And no gray areas in between, because gray areas are bad.

The next year, the teacher assigned to my section of sex ed wondered who the hell had told us condoms wouldn't stop HIV. And they wondered why so few people trusted anything authority figures said in sex ed...
