    They think it is their road to power, but only because they are totally out of touch with anyone not in the closed-loop alternate reality that tells them that.  They have no idea white suburbanites, at least in the North, favor treating all people, including immigrants and poor people, with dignity.  They have no idea most women want abortion to be safe and legal, even if rare, and nearly all support keeping contraceptives freely available.  They may have a dim idea that business wants immigration reform to get more low-wage labor, but they are so intent on shoring up their fragile egos by bashing non-white and non-rich and non-male people that they have no idea how unpopular their ideas really are.

    The biggest thing supporting the GOP is the tribal allegiance many of their supporters feel, particularly the rabid ones that hate Obama, but even the more moderate ones who support them on what they think is their economic policy and oppose what they think is the Dems' economic policy, or support them because they are social conservatives.  But the more they lock themselves into this cruel and selfish bubble, the less attractive they will seem even to these groups.

    Don't bet your future on 97% of climate scientists being wrong. Take action on climate now!
