It is the fact that some actually do take him seriously that is both bothersome and shocking. If he wanted to get Snowden killed, he couldn't come up with more provocative things to say. His story is, of course, the biggest story in the world evan! It's always been like that with Greenwald, but he's clearly jumped the shark now. He actually is claiming that he and his source have incredibly damaging information on the United States - information that would represent our country's "worst nightmare". And yet this supposed American is threatening to expose it? I know that journalists are entitled to a lot of leeway, but if he hasn't crossed the line he is certainly coming pretty close to it.

The thing is, there will always be plausible deniability with these documents, because there's no way to really verify their veracity. Take for example the PRISM program. The Guardian initial reported that Snowden said the NSA has direct access to the servers of companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft. However, those companies are contesting that account, and they're suing to do it. So the accuracy of that reporting is already in doubt.

Even if Snowden just dumped all the documents, any procedures of methods the US government considers truly sensitive will get changed to the extent feasible, so any countries trying to use those files to find our vulnerabilities are likely wasting their time.

Meanwhile, Greenwald has torpedoed whatever credibility he had left with statements like this. He's a nutcase.

to be somewhere between a complete fabrication and a wholesale exaggeration. The word direct is on one slide from one presentation. And that is supposed to trump the testimony of every single major corporation who attests to its inaccuracy, as well as the clear and complete denial by Barack Obama? The ease at which these Greenwald sycophants are willing to buy that Barack Obama is an evil and completely dishonest individual is really disgusting to me.

will probably either forever cement Mr Greenwald's reputation of forever destroy it. Mr Greenwald is all-in on this story.

States should be "on its knees" begging Snowden not to release more says it all for me. No matter what, his reputation is destroyed. He is a journalist part of the time. But he is an incredibly arrogant hater of his own country all of the time. Fuck him, we should be on our knees. Someday, he may find himself on his knees begging the United States for mercy.
