  •  The story is not over (13+ / 0-)

I don't think the story is over for Zimmerman.

    1.  The community has it's own opinion of Zimmerman.   Unless he changes his name, and possibly even his face, he will find that there continue to be consequences for his actions.

    2.  Zimmerman is crazy.   He was paranoid before all of this happened, to the point that he made excessive calls to 911, and was packing heat.    Now, he isn't just imagining that people are out to get him.  Now, there are really people out to get him.   OJ finally went down, when he did it again.   What are the odds that Zimmerman will do it again?   Maybe he's learned his lesson.   Or, maybe, he's even more guilty.

    •  He'll be paraded as a victim on Fox News (9+ / 0-)

And become a hero to a certain powerful element in this country.  As one comment said, I can even see him addressing the 2016 Republican convention.

that something about this kind of trial means you cannot file a civil suit after an acquittal

that question on TV.  He said the suit was filed some time ago so that rule does not apply.  I hope that's true.

But Mark O'Mara said in his press conference that IF anyone who wants to sue George Zimmerman, he will get the suit dismissed based on self defense.

The homeowner's association already settled the suit filed against them; no doubt they'll now fire the lawyer who recommended they do so.  They may also file a malpractice action against him.

He apparently doesn't know that O'Mara will now have the suit summarily dismissed due to his client's immunity from such suits, given his acquittal, under Florida law.

it-all bullshit just shows up everywhere. As I said to you in another diary. You won. This freaking murderer was acquitted, which you clearly so desperately wanted so why don't you just go watch Fox news and gloat and leave people who are truly shaken to the core by this horror alone. Do you have an ounce of decency? if so, go.

your presence in these diaries is decent, human behavior? Or, you probably don't care about that, do you?

I have respect for the dead Trayvon Martin and I do not think people such as yourself should be spewing crap all over diaries mourning him, when you clearly do not. It is indecent and highly disrespectful to his memory and what happened to his parents and family tonight. I don't care about you, per se, I care about that. In fact, I could never care a whit about someone like you but I do care about his memory and think he deserves diaries written and commented in by people who care about him and those who loved him.

suggesting/confirming that it concerns legal issues.  I have not posted any comment suggesting an iota of disrespect, here or elsewhere, on this subject.  My interest is in correcting the misinformation that is regularly offered, causing many to misunderstand and come to some opinions and conclusions that are so off-the-wall that it's sad ... and dangerous.

but out of the MANY comments I've posted, THIS is all you have to quibble over?

I've read that Zimmerman's home was previously burglarized, and I'm pretty sure I read it in a comment on DKos.  Beyond that, no, I don't have a cite handy and am too tired tonight to care to go looking ... especially for the benefit of someone who clearly isn't interested in the WHOLE truth anyway.  Even if the information is wrong, it doesn't negate the score of other contributed facts you've been distressed to learn WERE true ... and hoped the community would never learn about.

Justice, however, cannot triumph by deceit, and I don't care to partake in any campaign that utilizes it.  Just ask the 66 men I was instrumental in jailing for criminal corporate fraud a few years back.

    •  What are the odds (3+ / 0-)
What are the odds that Zimmerman will do it again?
that he will hunt down and murder another black kid?  I'd say pretty good, and he'll get away with it again too.  Because he'll have more experience trying to keep his story straight.

And yes, this is the intent of 'stand your ground' laws coupled with 'concealed carry'.  They're a license to go out hunting for black males.
